A Journey Of Hope and Healing – Supporting Nancy’s Recovery And Our Family’s New Beginning
Hello! I hope this message finds you in great spirits. I’m Paul, and I wanted to reach out to share a heartfelt update about my wife, Nancy. We’re currently navigating a challenging chapter, and I would truly appreciate your support during this time. Your kindness means the world to us!
As some of our friends and partners may know, things changed dramatically for us back on October 19, 2021. I was having lunch with my dear wife, Nancy and our then 4-year-old daughter, Nimbine, when suddenly, Nancy seemed confused and left the kitchen. I got worried when I heard a strange noise from the living room. When I rushed in, I found Nancy unconscious on the sofa vomiting all over herself.
I called for help immediately, and we took her to the nearest hospital. The doctors told us she had bleeding in her brain and needed emergency surgery. It was terrifying. After the surgery, they managed to clean the blood, but Nancy was still in critical condition and on a ventilator. It turns out her bleeding was likely due to her long-term high blood pressure, which she had been managing well until after our daughter was born.
Since that day, our lives have changed completely. Nancy is unable to speak, has lost movement in her right leg and arm, and is experiencing partial memory loss. Her recovery has been incredibly challenging and costly. For the past two years, I’ve been her primary caregiver at home, as I couldn’t afford to send her to a nursing facility.
Currently, Nancy is at home with me and our daughter, but as we prepare for our move to Nagaland in September, I’ve made the difficult decision to place her in a nursing home. There, she will receive the specialized care she needs to regain her strength and health for our journey ahead—care that I simply cannot provide on my own.
I’m trying to work and take care of Nimbine at the same time, and it’s exhausting. I want Nimbine to have a stable and loving life, but this situation is really hard on her. Despite all this, we still have hope.
A New Beginning – Hope and Healing in Nagaland
After a lot of thought, we’ve decided to move to Nagaland, India, where Nancy’s family is from. It’s a place filled with love and support, and we believe it can help us start fresh. In Nagaland, we can find healthcare options that respect our traditions and help Nancy recover. Plus, I can engage in work and ministry that fits our family’s needs.
Moving to Nagaland isn’t just about better healthcare for Nancy; it’s also about creating a more stable and loving environment for Nimbine. Imagine our daughter playing joyfully with her cousins in a warm and supportive community. That vision keeps me going every day. But making this move isn’t easy, especially financially. We really need help to cover Nancy’s ongoing treatment and care, which includes both medications and nursing. Her monthly expenses for insulins amount to approximately THB5000, which is a significant sum for us.
On top of medical costs, we need funds to help us travel and settle in Nagaland. Getting the essentials for our new home is going to be a challenge, but it’s a step we need to take for our family’s future. So, any support you can provide would mean the world to us. Your help can ease some of our financial stress and allow us to focus on healing and being together.
I know that not everyone can offer financial support, and that’s okay. Even sharing our story can make a big difference. The more people hear about our journey, the more likely we are to find the help we need. Every small bit of support, whether it’s a donation or just a kind word, lifts our spirits and brings us closer to our goal.
Envision me working within a supportive Christian community, continuing my mission to serve others. With your help, we can turn these dreams into reality. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I truly appreciate any support you can give, whether it’s sharing this message or contributing in other ways. Every little bit helps us during this tough time.
With love and gratitude, Paul, Nancy, and Nimbine.
